After obtaining the highest award, he reached the final round at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Member of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, he is soloist of the prestigious Paris National Opera Orchestra since 1998. His musical approach conducts him to be envolved in very different projects : soloist with orchestra ; Duo Contrastes, marimba and violin duet with Eric Lacrouts, solo violin of Paris National Opera Orchestra ; PercuDuo, eclectic percussion duet with Philippe Limoge where they play both original music and improvisation, exploring the mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. They travel all over the world. Many pieces were dedicated to him.

Fascinated by afro-cuban music, he belongs also to the Ensemble Nord-Sud, group of musicians coming from different countries and musical origins.

Damien PETITJEAN gives regularly masterclasses on marimba and orchestral percussion. He’s also artistic director of the Festival « Cuivres en Fête » and his summer academy Epsival in Limousin where students come from all over the world.
